ONE QUESTION

❝

Dear Sage,

I’ve never been great at talking about my feelings. Honestly, it just feels awkward and pointless, like it won’t actually solve anything but my spouse is really pushing for it.

Am I missing something, or is this whole “share your feelings” thing just overrated advice people throw around?

So I guess my question is what’s the point of talking about your feelings all the time?

ONE INTUITIVE ANSWER

Hi there,

The answer is very simple.

So you don’t make stupid decisions.

Here’s how it works:

Your feelings are you internal guidance system... AKA:

  • Your intuition.

  • Your direction in life.

  • Your compass 🧭

You need to talk about them so you can get better at understanding what they are, what they mean, and what they’re trying to tell you ESPECIALLY if you’re a more logical person.

❓ Do you really want to ignore them and make the wrong decisions for 20 years then have a midlife crisis where you realize:

  1. you’ve built a life that brings you no joy,

  2. you’re stuck in a dead-end job you despise,

  3. and you married the wrong person?

I wouldn’t. And I don’t know anyone else who would.

So, please, feel your feelings, talk about them, express them, and follow that compass to the ends of the earth.

Trust me, the benefits far outweigh the present day discomfort.
